Disposable Blunted Needles for injecting gel for EEG (e.g. with ECI Electro-Caps) and other applications. Needle size is 16G (1.60 x 18.0 mm), made of steel, sterile, 100 blunted needles per box.

These Disposable Blunted Needles are intended to prepare subjects' skin for electrophysiological applications such as EEG. Blunted needles come with a female Luer lock connector suitable for use with syringes with a male Luer lock connector. The blunted needle size (diameter) is 16G (1.60 mm) and the length of the needle is 18.0 mm. They come with a female Luer Lock connector for mounting to standard Luer Lock syringes. They are made of steel and come sterile. Blunted needles are packed separately since they cannot be re-sterilized.

Blunted needles are used to abrade and prepare subjects' corneal skin, which ensures low impedances crucial for high signal quality in biosignal data acquisitions.

Note: these blunted needles supersede blunted needles from ECI Electro-Cap (E8B).

One box contains 100 disposable blunted needles.

Technical Specifications

  • Needle size (diameter): 16G (1.60mm)
  • Needle length: 18mm
  • Connector: Female Luer lock
  • Sterile: Yes
  • Packaging: 100 disposable blunted needles per box

Application Note

Verify the integrity of the packaging before use and discard if damaged. Remove the blunted needle from the sterile packaging and connect it to a syringe with a screwing motion. Fill the syringe with conductive gel. Inject gel into the desired location (electrode holder). Twirl the blunted needle at the desired location and on the subject's corneal skin layer.

Ensure the blunted needle tip doesn't contact the EEG electrode tip as this may lead to a shift in the DC offset.
