NIRS-EEG Holder (Cap)

NIRS measurements and electroencephalograph (EEG) measurements of the whole brain can be performed simultaneously using the optical fiber holder for simultaneous electroencephalograph measurements. With this holder/cap, a proprietary mechanism called FLASH (Flexible Adjustable Surface Holder) has been adopted enabling changes to the head size and shape while maintaining a constant distance between the transmitter/receiver fibers.

Compatibility

Mounting

• Pre-determine the Cz positions on the subject.
• Loosen the nut screws and cover the subject's head with the holder. Perform adjustments to ensure that the EEG cross axis matches the 10-20 coordinate axis.
• Ensure that the holder fits the subject securely. Then tighten the nut screws in sequence, spreading outward from the nuts in vicinity of the EEG cross intersections. At this point, check that the holder fits securely against the head. Also, be careful not to over-tighten the nuts.
• Free the ears from the head cap EEG, and retain the jaw gently.
• Mount the EEG electrodes.
• Mount the optical fibers.

Removal

• Remove the EEG electrodes.
• Remove the optical fibers.
• Remove the jaw retainer.
• Loosen the nut screws.
• Remove the holder.
