Audio Optical Cable Adaptor (ActiveThree)

This Audio Optical Cable Adaptor is specifically designed for connecting mains-driven devices (e.g. PC sound cards, sensors, microphones, ...) to the ActiveThree EEG system from BioSemi. The 10m Audio Optical Cable Adaptor has been intuitively designed with an electrical-to-optical conversion adapter, converting the digital into an analog signal. This adapter is built with a 3.5mm audio port for connecting audio devices and a USB-C port for supplying power to the audio-optical interface. To connect it to the ActiveThree, the cable then terminates at a 6-pin touch-proof (TP) plug, made to be connected to any of the AUX ports on the ActiveThree.

The Audio Optical Cable Adaptor ensures complete optical and galvanic isolation of mains-driven devices connected to the ActiveThree. Examples of such mains-driven devices are microphones, audio outputs from a computer, and various sensors. Optical and galvanic isolation is crucial in EEG setups as it ensures noise-free biosignal data recordings and subject safety. Connecting mains-driven devices to the ActiveThree will distort EEG data and pose a safety risk to your subjects.

The Audio Optical Cable Adaptor has an input range from -500mV up to +500mV and a bandwidth from 10Hz to 5400Hz.

Future enhancement will add a splitter to headphone adapter fitted with two 6.5mm output sockets and calibrated sound to tubal insert headphones (50 ohm) and the Audio Optical Cable Adaptor. (available early summer 2025)
