The XGD probe from Otodynamics Ltd. is a general-purpose probe for TEOAE (Transient Oto-Acoustic Emission Probe) and DPOAE (Distortion Product Oto-Acoustic Emission Probe) examinations. It is suitable for all age groups, from newborns to children and even adults. The XGD probe can be used with the following Otodynamics Ltd devices:

  • Otoport Advance
  • Otoport Lite DP+TE

XGD probes have been completely redesigned. The mechanical redesign makes user-level maintenance easier in that there is no dismantling of the probe to replace the coupler tubes. The XGD’s disposable Tip Holder unclips with minimal effort and can be replaced in seconds with no danger of damage to probe transducers. We recommend replacing Tip Holders after each TEOAE or DPOAE examination.

The XGD probe connection cable has a length of 1m. One XGD Probe per pack.

Application Notes

To ensure reliability and compatibility with your Otoport, the firmware of the Otoport needs to be upgraded to the latest version. Once your Otoport is upgraded, your Otoport will accept XGD, UGD or UGS probes. Contact Us to upgrade your Otoport's firmware.

To ensure the longevity of the probe, replace ear tips and Tip Holders regularly. We recommend replacing tips and Tip Holders after every 20-40 TEOAE/DPOAE examinations. To replace the Tip Holders, follow these steps:

  1. To fit the Tip Holder to the probe body, ensure that it is aligned with the probe head as shown above.
  2. Align the semi-circle key on the Tip Holder with the probe body as shown here.
  3. Apply light pressure, while firmly pushing on both side tabs until they click securely into place.

The XGD probes have three holes at the output side, one is for the microphone and the other two are for the loudspeakers. It can be used for both TEOAE and DPOAE examinations interchangeably.
